Jill-Elizabeth (Volland) Nelson, a native of Junction City and a graduate of Junction City High School, began at the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation in October of 2011. Jill holds a Bachelor degree in Music Theatre from Kansas State University. She and husband David, a firefighter/EMT with the Junction City Fire Department, are parents to Kael, Emmalynne, the late Luke Nelson, and David’s daughter, Isabelle. As a SIDS parent, Jill holds a deep passion and interest in improving the health of mothers and infants in Geary County. In her spare time, Jill enjoys performing, reading, hiking and playing with her kids.
Shirley Robinson is from Jefferson, South Dakota, but grew up just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She started working for the Delivering Change: Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies in September 2014 as the first OB Navigator in the state of Kansas. Shirley graduated from Kansas State University in May 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Family Studies and Human Services with a minor in American Ethnic Studies. Shirley was an intern with Delivering Change, and that is how she found her passion to better the health of mothers and babies. She was ecstatic to be offered the job as the OB Navigator, and come back to Geary County to connect our mothers to helpful resources in the community. Mattie-Kay Stewart is a Licensed Masters Social Worker in the State of Kansas, Certified Lactation Counselor and is one of the OB Navigators working for Delivering Change: Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies. She was born and raised in Junction City, Kansas, and has returned home to the community after earning her Master’s Degree from Washburn University. Mattie-Kay has a background working as a social work intern with Home Health and Hospice of Geary County and as a social worker with Geary County Schools USD 475. She is currently earing her certificate in Play Therapy and has plans to pursue her LSCSW in the state of Kansas. Mattie-Kay was honored to accept the role of OB Navigator in the Spring of 2016 and continue her journey of giving back to her community. It is her goal as the OB Navigator to work from an ethical and client centered approach to ensure that all women who are pregnant and postpartum are connected to services in Geary County, are empowered, and supported throughout their experiences with Delivering Change. Ashley King (Powers) is a native of Junction City and a graduate of Junction City High School. Ashley holds a degree in business management/marketing from Bryan College. After working and living in Kansas City for several years she and her husband Andrew wanted to move closer to family as they began a family of their own. Andrew and Ashley, are parents to Mallory & Rory. Ashley is passionate about the health and wellness of women & babies in Geary County and and is so honored to be working with such a wonderful organization that gives back to her hometown community. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Teen Pregnancy Targeted Case Manager/LYFTE:
Shanea Bea grew up in Topeka, KS and graduated from Kansa State University in May 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Services. She and her husband Matthew, a Territory Manager for US Foods, are parents to Savannah and Maddox. Shanea started working for Delivering Change: Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies in February 2017 as the Teen Pregnancy Targeted Case Manager. Shanea has a background in social services working with Early Head Start and Head Start, where she worked with pregnant women, children up to age 5 and their families. She was elated to accept the Teen Pregnancy Targeted Case Manager position and begin her work with pregnant and postpartum teens up to the age of 21. As the Teen Pregnancy Targeted Case Manager, it is Shanea’s goal to ensure that all pregnant and parenting teens have access to services and programs in the Geary County community, are able to increase their self-sufficiency and education and achieve their goals related to their own futures and that of their children. Alex Tyson was born and raised in Oakland, CA and later moved to Omaha, NE where he completed high school and then joined the U.S. Army, serving for 8 years, including deployments to Iraq on 3 separate occasions. Alex arrived in Junction City in May 2007 and now resides here with his wife, Melissa and their two children, Jamarcus and Declan. Alex coach’s varies sports activities as well as mentoring youth with the Youth Advocate Program. Alex is passionate about empowering and strengthening youth and men in our community by providing much needed support and guidance. In addition, he currently attends Upper Iowa University where he is working towards a degree in Criminal Justice.
